"Most of you are probably not aware of an extreme case of treachery that
took place here in Florida
last Saturday.
An elderly gentleman, Mr. Jack Donahue, with a well known Horse Farm was
besieged by the County Sheriffs' office while he was out purchasing feed and supplies for his horses. He came home to
find the farm swarming with deputies chasing and catching his Arabian horses - TV cameras rolling - etc. It was the
culmination of an unfortunate situation escalated by today's economic climate.
The claim that initiated all of this was a report from a neighbor
of abuse - yet none could be found when the farm was checked several days before the seizure - yes he was low on feed - cash
- and supplies - but the cameras that rolled that day - didn't even recognize that there were 6 - 50 lb. bags of feed
in the barn near the stalls. (this is shown in the camera footage run by the TV station)
To add to the scenario - no one in the sheriff's office can find the police
report to provide same to an attorney for this gentleman - who has no charges against him - he is now listed on the
Petabuse list - along with a map of where he lives! What happened to our American right to privacy?!
Meanwhile - no one will admit where his 26 horses are - no search warrant was presented - he was precluded
from going near his animals while they were being seized - deputies chasing the animals all over the place and scaring them
half to death - it is believed that several are in foal -
There is much more to this story which we will be glad to
share. Are there any of you out there that can help us - we are gathering information - have set up a bank account for
contributions to help defray his expenses - and giving what comfort we can so that he doesn't go into cardiac arrest
- Thanks for reading!
This man is a personal friend of mine from whom I have bought horses from him
in the past. My best friend and roommate was at this farm the day before the raid and says these horses while thin, none were
in the deplorable conditions described by the deputies to the press. The horses that looked the worst were senior horses and
being thin is not uncommon for older horses.
